What's Up With All the Clown Blush These Days?
Wednesday March 5, 2008
I am all for pink cheeks, particularly when applied over bronzer. When done correctly, a good blush job makes you look as if you just ran three miles. It's healthy, rosy, pretty. But I've noticed this trend has gotten out of hand, and women are appearing on TV and the streets of Manhattan looking as if en route to clown school. To avoid going overboard with the blusher, consider these tips:
I brush on powder bronzer then follow with cream blush applied just to the apples of my cheeks with a little dab on my forehead. To keep bronzer from going on too heavy I use a fluffy brush and I blow off the excess powder before application. I then blend, blend, blend the cream blush. The results are fabulous. It's worth nothing that some beauty experts advise to never apply wet product (cream blusher) on top of dry (bronzing powder) because the dry powder will stick to the wet product, but I haven't experienced that.

i would say be careful about blowing on your brushes. Blowing on your brushes puts bacteria on them and then the bacteria gets to your makeup and it doesnt last as long, or worse you could get an infection in your eyes, nose, or any open skin. Instead, try tapping the brushes with your finger or on the edge of your table or sink. And don’t forget to clean them. Just run them under water and use a mild hand soap. It works for all brushes no matter what theyre made of. If they’re your personal brushes once a week is good, but i do suggest cleaning eyeliner brushes after every use.
Which cream blushes do you recommend?
My all-time favorite is from Bobbi Brown. I love her pot rouge. It works on both lips and cheeks. http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/templates/products/sp_shaded.tmpl?ngextredir=1&CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY2695&PRODUCT_ID=PROD7469
Thank you!
What bronzer do you use? I find that they have to much orange in them.
I like the avon blushes and bronzers, and avon does have cream blushes….plus the prices are pretty afordable, I used to buy the expensive kind and really saw no diference////
You can try the new Mark blushes and brozers, Mark is part of avon…
Thank you! I’ll give it a try.
Bronzers can be tricky. I suggest trying out a few at Sephora or any large department stores. I’ve bought some before (Laura Mercier, I think) that just didn’t work. It was way too dark for my light skin. Trying out a few is your best bet. You can test on your inside wrist or along the jawline. Make sure to stand near a window when deciding. Natural light is best.
