Cut Those Showers Short
Monday January 14, 2008
Oh how I love long, hot showers in winter. When it's freezing outside, sometimes I find a hot shower is the fastest way to warm up. Turns out it's also the fastest way to dry out skin. If you are especially prone to dry skin, avoid long, hot showers and opt for lukewarm, short showers instead (yeah, I don't abide by my own rules). When out of the shower, dry off and slather on the moisturizer. If you're a bit damp, that's OK, the product will lock in that moisture. Other ways to get rid of dry skin in winter: Exfoliate in the shower and before going to bed, slather moisturizer on your feet (we hear good things about Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Foot Creme), then wear socks as you sleep.
