What's Your Fall Resolution: A Makeover or Maybe ... a Marathon?
Wednesday September 5, 2007
When I heard my childhood friend, Jennifer, was training for the Austin Marathon, I had to share her story with my readers. Jennifer's always had a great self-deprecating sense of humor, making gentle fun of her life as a mom working in a dental office, battling the bulge, shopping at Target and living out her days in muumuus.
Last May, Jennifer took up walking with her best friend and coworker in the super-early hours before work, and recently she got herself talked into training for a marathon. We'll follow her story as she runs her first mile, comes in last place with the walkers group due to a cramp in her calf and still gets herself out there at 5 a.m. each morning to train for a marathon. Hopefully her story will inspire some of you to come up with a new resolution for yourself this fall. This week, part 1 of "From Muumuus to Marathons: Diary of a New Runner."
